PA-06: Bob Roggio, Future Congressman
Thu May 15, 2008 at 10:21:42 AM PDT
Most of you probably remember me from all of the hard work I put in blogging about Rick Vilello, former candidate for the PA-05 nomination. Well, during that time I also got very sick. So sick that I was unable to go to work and they eventually had to let me go. The good news is that my sickness was apparently an allergic reaction to something in the area, and now that I have left the area, I'm no longer sick. I'm returning to the PA-06 and noticed that there has not been a single diary on our very progressive candidate down there. I would like to rectify that situation. Bear in mind that I do not work for the Bob Roggio campaign, although I do look forward to volunteering for it.
Obama Vice-Presidential Decision Thread!
Tue May 06, 2008 at 10:18:00 PM PDT
So it's all over but the screaming. (Even though MSNBC just called it for Clinton. I don't see that changing anything.) And for everyone celebrating around here, I'm sure there will be a lot of screaming. (Possibly some drinking too, but no need to discuss that.) So now what? Well, now we need to do a couple of things. First, we need to get some party unity. We need to bring the Hillary and Barack supporters together and reform as one united Democratic Party. Second, we need to train every single one of our political weapons on John McCain and whatever conservative wingnut that he picks for his running mate. Third, and the purpose of this thread, is Senator Obama needs to pick a running mate. Follow below the jump for the beginning of the discussion.
Anti-Worker Forces At It Again!

So I'm just sitting here, minding my own business, watching some news on MSNBC. Then, all of a sudden, a commercial comes on the air. I'm told that unions are trying to steal my right to a secret ballot. That a crude Italian mafia stereotype is going to browbeat me into signing a card to join a union. That all my co-workers will stare at me disapprovingly until I sign. This was all brought to me by the friendly people at the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace. I'll tell you more about it after the jump.
PA-05: Why Rick Vilello Is The Best Choice.
Mon Apr 21, 2008 at 03:41:37 PM PDT
So here we are, the end of the primary season. Clearly, everyone has been paying attention to the top primary race in the country....the PA-05 primary. (I hear there are a couple of people running for some office that gets a White House too.) I thought I'd take a moment to run through some of the reasons why Rick Vilello is the best choice for the people of the Fifth District. Follow me below the fold for the details.

This diary will be relatively brief because it's a very straightforward item. It's almost primary day here in the Fifth District and another organization is making it known that Rick Vilello is the man they want down in Washington, D.C. fighting for them. PA-05: A Discussion of Fundraising

I feel I should point out that, on a personal note, I don't intend this as a smear diary. Everything in here is true to the best of my knowledge. The only reason I bring it up here is because the local press pays no attention to campaign finance and lobbyists as a general rule.
There's been a lot of discussion on here regarding fundraising and contributions from lobbyists and employees of lobbying firms. We all know that these contributions can corrupt the democratic process. I personally think that's one of the reasons that John Edwards was so popular in the blogosphere and why Obama gets a tremendous amount of support from the online community. This is also an issue that should be considered and weighed in races downticket as well. Follow me after the fold for more.
PA-05: Rick Vilello Endorses H.R. 676!

Skyrocketing health care costs are one of the most important issues facing Americans today. It is a vital issue not just in the presidential race, but also in all of the downticket races as well. Needless to say, it is a vital issue here in the Fifth District of Pennsylvania as well. Rick has been saying from the beginning that he wants universal health care. Well, we're going to get a little more specific tonight. After all, good judgment is good, but details are also good. And combining good judgment and details are what the Fifth District will get with Rick Vilello. Follow me below the fold for more.
PA-05: Rick Vilello, Real Results

As all of you know, the Pennsylvania primary is coming up on April 22. And as I'm sure you know, there's more than just the Presidential primary on the ballot. For instance, there is the primary in the PA-05 on April 22 as well. I've discussed Mayor Rick Vilello on here numerous times, and every time I've brought up the fact that he has the experience and ability to unify that will serve this district better than any other candidate in the race. However, I've never specifically dealt with the work that he has done during his long career here in Lock Haven. I'll be rectifying that after the fold.

It is clear that Governor Rendell recognizes the strength, leadership, and progressive values that Rick Vilello will bring to the House of Representatives for the Fifth District. As many of you know, I am the chief blogger for the Rick Vilello campaign here in the PA-05. (I've been thinking of changing my title to Netroots Coordinator. What do you think?) Today, I would like to talk to you about Iraq. Specifically, I would like to talk to you about Rick Vilello's views on Iraq. Although he has already put out his core values on the subject, we felt it was important to make a more specific statement on this vital issue. Follow me below the fold for more.
PA-05: Rick Vilello Picks Up Major Labor Endorsement!
Thu Mar 20, 2008 at 10:16:02 AM PDT
Well, here's the labor announcement I was promising yesterday. Needless to say, everyone here at the campaign is very excited. I may be more excited than most as I used to work for the NH AFL-CIO and I've always been very interested in labor issues. It's actually one of the reasons I wanted to work on Rick's campaign. It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who recognizes his commitment to the working people of this district. Follow me below the fold to see the press release.
PA-05 - Rick Vilello's Endorsements
Wed Mar 19, 2008 at 10:33:22 AM PDT
There has been a lot of talk lately about endorsements here in the PA-05, so I thought I would weigh in on the discussion with my own thoughts. From what I’ve seen over my years in my politics, the main difference in endorsements is between people who have been elected and know exactly what is needed to make a difference as a political leader, and those who have been involved in following those elected leaders in spreading the message. Both of these groups of people are important and nothing can be accomplished without them. But, in my mind, it’s the people who have been there before, the people who know exactly what is needed to be an effective leader and political actor, who offer the most telling and effective endorsements. Progressive Change for the PA-05.
Sat Mar 01, 2008 at 07:22:48 AM PDT
Disclaimer: I am the chief blogger for the Rick Vilello Congressional Campaign.
Disclaimer of the disclaimer: I'd be writing this even if I wasn't. He could tell me to stop volunteering tomorrow and I'd still feel this way.
I've diaried a lot on here in the past for John Edwards. Needless to say, those have died down quite a bit. However, my reasons for getting so involved with the Edwards campaign still exist. A deep and abiding concern for those living on the fringe of society. My worry that we are entering another Gilded Age. My hope that our elected officials will be willing to stand up and do what is right and necessary to give people the opportunity to have a job they can count on, a safe place to live, and a nation that will let them live in peace and dignity. Follow me after the jump to meet a man who will make that happen in the Fifth Congressional District of Pennsylvania, provided we all help to make it happen.
Bush fabricates on Mukasey at the Heritage Foundation.
Thu Nov 01, 2007 at 10:29:54 AM PDT
I just finished watching Bush speak at the Heritage Foundation regarding the confirmation hearings of Michael Mukasey for Attorney General and on the War on Terror. He says that Mukasey's confirmation is being unfairly held up by the Senate and that a vote is needed now. With all due respect Mr. President, you are, once again, you are playing fast and loose with the facts and have no idea what you're talking about. Details below.
