You Are All TRAITORS - Shark Jumping - Hillary-ous!

Thu May 22, 2008 at 05:20:04 PM PDT

There's been a LOT of acrimony from the (formerly known as) "Lefty Blogs" that support Hillary. One of the worst has been Larry Johnson's. Now Larry did a lot of great work getting us the details and background to the Plame outing, and he deserves a lot of props for that.

When it comes to supporting Hillary, his site finally (in my opinion) jumped the shark.

Yes, the zombie is alive – SWMNBN – has risen from the muck and is covering one of our departed with slime.

Senators - stand up, or get ready for the undercarriage!

Fri Jan 13, 2006 at 04:07:48 AM PDT

OK, there's been a lot of talks around the blogosphere about what are we gonna do, as well as a bit of hand-wringing.  Here's the thing - if we are serious about making some changes in how the democrats work, we must stand up.  I mean, get the message out to your senators in congress - do the job we expect of you, or start looking for a new job.

more on the flip.

Rightwing LIARS - Anything to protect BUSHTM

Sun Sep 04, 2005 at 11:33:32 PM PDT

Oh, Powerline, can't your guys write ANYTHING without happily ripping off your human values and dignity faster than bush can say "I understand..."?

Now that the federal response has ramped up and is producing results, there's a good chance that the public will come to view it, and the president, more favorably.

The right is busily engaged in damage control - NO, not flood damage control - not saving American Citizens (the young, the weak, the poor and the elderly) from death and disease damage control - but the ALL IMPORTANT IMAGE damage control.

We knew this was coming, and from the expected Clinton-blaming, and the Democrat-bashing, to the finally out in the open "Welfare Nigger"-bashing.  The shocking thing is - this comes from family and friends...

Stop the Blame-Shifting

Fri Sep 02, 2005 at 06:25:39 AM PDT

There have been a lot of reports about how rescue operations were suspended because people have been "shooting at the choppers" stories.

Well the FAA has this to say:

"At the Superdome, we have a report that one shot was fired at a Chinook helicopter," Schneider said, adding that the Chinook is "an extremely large aircraft."

Laura Brown, a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman in Washington, said she had no such report.

"We're controlling every single aircraft in that airspace and none of them reported being fired on," she said, adding that the FAA was in contact with the military as well as civilian aircraft.

Earlier Thursday, the first busload of survivors had arrived at the Houston Astrodome, where air conditioning, cots, food and showers awaited them.

So what's the deal?  More below...

The spin continues at the NRO - surprised?

Wed Jul 27, 2005 at 09:55:50 AM PDT

Well, it seems that some of the tools that have permanently attched themselves to the teat of the RNC have their own explanation for the whole Plamegate fiasco.

Evidently it's really simple...

According to Time.com today, a House panel is seeking documents that "reportedly detailed former Ambassador Joseph Wilson's 2002 CIA-sponsored trip to Niger to investigate a report that Saddam Hussein was trying to procure nuclear material from Niger. The memo noted Plame, Wilson's wife had a role in suggesting to other CIA officials that her husband would be a good person to send to Niger because of his experience on the continent as a career foreign service officer."

I get it. These documents that "reportedly detailed former Ambassador Joseph Wilson's 2002 CIA-sponsored trip" if they DO exist, go on to say that "Wilson's wife had a role in suggesting to other CIA officials that her husband would be a good person to send to Niger because of his experience on the continent as a career foreign service officer."

Is this amazing grey parrot.  There's a lot of debate regarding how "aware" animals really are, but all too many stories rely on anecdotes, unconfirmed reports, or even outright hoaxes.  This animal, a bird of all things, seems to be the proof that animals can understand an amazing abstract concept: "ZERO"

There are "some people" in the administration who can't bend their heads around this, or even the effects of pursuing "zero sum" policies...

The Love Boat - In Iraq!!!

Mon Jul 11, 2005 at 06:51:57 AM PDT

So we've heard that some conservative "talking heads" are going to take up the idea first suggested here and will go to that beach-side resort we all call Iraq!

Well you can see an advance peek at the kind of "in depth" "no holds barred" reporting we can expect to see at the swiftreport blog!!!

I can smell the coconut oil, the soft lapping of the waves on the shore, the beautiful sunsets, accented by the pillars of smoke from car bombs - whoops! That's not on the agenda!!!.

What was it that Ricardo Montalban used to say? Ah, "Smiles, everyone, SMILES!!!"

Torture Illegal/Inefficient - Pentagon

Mon Jun 20, 2005 at 09:14:50 AM PDT

There's been a lot of banter back and forth regarding the reactions of people, congress, and the media to the reports coming out of Abu Ghraib and Gitmo (not to mention Afghanistan).

There's been a lot of comment regarding the lunatic right, and their knee-jerk wagon-circling everytime the fact that we (yes, we - all americans) are torturing prisoners.  It's been discussed here ad infinitum, but this isn't going to just hit the troops (which it already is) but ALL of us down the road.

So what is the official view of the military on the subject of torture?  More below....

Chairman removes health care provision from defense measure

Wed May 25, 2005 at 10:41:07 AM PDT

Story over here.

House Armed Services Committee Chairman Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., has employed a rarely used authority to strike a provision in the committee-passed $441.6 billion defense authorization bill that would have opened the military's Tricare health care system to all National Guard members and reservists.

Why do the republicans hate our soldiers?
